How to join a FiveM server
Live data · last refresh 27 Oct 2026, 00:09 UTC · numbers update every 10 minutes from the public Cfx.re server list
FiveM is the community multiplayer platform for Grand Theft Auto V on PC, run by Cfx.re — it's where GTA roleplay happens. Joining a server takes a few minutes. Right now 38,206 players are on 2,427 active FiveM servers in the USA, Canada & UK.
1. What you need
- GTA V installed and updated on a Windows PC. FiveM runs on top of your own copy of the game [Cfx docs]. There's also a separate FiveM build for GTA V Enhanced, which needs the Rockstar Games Launcher [Cfx support].
- PC only. FiveM doesn't run on PlayStation or Xbox, and the client can't run on Linux [Cfx support].
- A free Cfx.re account — FiveM itself is a free download.
2. Install FiveM
- Go to the official site, fivem.net, and choose Download client. Accept the license ("Sure, I agree!"). Only download from the official site.
- Run
FiveM.exe. If you run it in an empty folder it installs there; otherwise it installs in%localappdata%\FiveM[Cfx docs]. - When asked, select
GTA5.exein your GTA V folder, then let FiveM update its local game data (this can take several minutes). - Accept the terms and Sign in with Cfx in your browser, then click Authorize [Cfx docs].
3. Find a server and connect
Option A — in-game browser: open FiveM, go to the server browser, pick a server to see its description, players, locale and access requirements, then select Connect [Cfx support].
Option B — join link: every server page on RPLookout has a Join button with the server's cfx.re/join/… link. You can also press F8 in FiveM to open the console and type connect cfx.re/join/abc123 (with the server's code) [Cfx docs].
4. Check the rules first
Every server is run by its own community with its own rules [Cfx support]. Many big RP cities are allowlisted and want a Discord application first, while open FiveM servers let you in straight away. Most cities run ESX, QBCore or Qbox — here's how they compare.

Frequently asked questions
How do I join a FiveM server?
You need GTA V on PC. Download FiveM from the official site, fivem.net, run FiveM.exe, point it at your GTA V install and sign in with a Cfx.re account. Then pick a server in the FiveM server browser and connect — or press F8 and type connect cfx.re/join/<code>. Every server page on RPLookout has a Join button with that link. Allowlisted servers need an application first. Step by step: how to join a FiveM server.
Are there FiveM servers with no whitelist?
Yes. As of Oct 27, 2026, 1,180 active FiveM servers in the USA, Canada & UK don't require an application (no allowlist), with 22,029 players online. The busiest open servers over the last 5.7 days are DISTRICT 99🡺LAUNCHED NOW 20-OCT🡸 (838 avg players), Grand Roleplay US 1 (654) and TMFRZ SEASON 2 OUT NOW (649). Live list: FiveM servers with no whitelist.
What's the difference between RedM and FiveM?
Both are community multiplayer platforms from Cfx.re that let anyone run their own server. RedM runs on Red Dead Redemption 2 (Wild West roleplay); FiveM runs on GTA V (modern-day city roleplay, racing and more). FiveM is much bigger: right now 38,206 players are on US, Canadian & UK FiveM servers versus 2,625 on RedM. RPLookout covers both.
How we got these numbers
Everything on this page is computed from the public Cfx.re server list (the same list the in-game browser uses), which RPLookout reads every 10 minutes. "Players" means players online at the last refresh; "7-day avg" is the average of our 10-minute samples over the last 7 days (it starts from when we first saw a server); "7-day peak" is the highest sample. Country and language come from each server's own locale setting (servers with no country in their locale are placed by IP geolocation; only USA, Canada & UK servers are covered), allowlist status from its sv_appearAllowlisted flag or a "whitelist" tag, and frameworks are detected from tags and the server's public resource list. RedM/FiveM "RP" lists include servers tagged roleplay or running a known roleplay framework. "Best" here means most played — we don't review gameplay. Rankings are never for sale; promoted slots elsewhere on the site are labelled Sponsored and never appear in these tables.
